Douglas Seymour

Douglas R. Seymour is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Electric Insurance Company, an affiliate of General Electric Company(GE), located in Beverly, MA.

Electric Insurance is a Property and Casualty Insurance Carrier, which provides auto, home, and excess liability insurance to individuals in all 50 states and covers General Electric for its Workers’ Compensation, and General/Excess Liability programs globally.

After graduating from the University of Connecticut, Mr. Seymour joined GE Capital with the Financial Management Program, GE’s financial leadership program. During his 30+ year career with GE, he held a number of increasingly responsible financial roles with GE in its Capital, Aviation, Healthcare, Power and International divisions, including an assignment in Asia and several business CFO roles.

Mr. Seymour has been a member of the University of Connecticut’s School of Business International Advisory Board. He also lectured at UConn’s Global Leadership Seminar Series and to UConn’s Business Connections Learning Community. Mr. Seymour taught Financial Management and Advanced Financial Management at GE’s JF Welch Leadership Development Institute. Most recently, he has been a member of Endicott College’s Board of Advisors and is Vice Chairman of its Board of Trustees.

Mr. Seymour holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business/Finance from the University of Connecticut and is also a graduate of GE’s Executive Leadership and Financial Management programs.

Mr. Seymour and his wife Barbara reside in Naples, FL; have three grown children and three grandchildren.
