Richard Twilley earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the UConn School of Engineering in 1996, and a juris doctor from the UConn School of Law in 2004.  Rich has supported our alma mater in a variety of roles, including as a member of the University’s Board of Trustees, and the Board of Directors of the UConn Alumni Association, Inc.  Rich was also the President of the UConn Law School Alumni Association, Inc., in 2018 and 2019, and has mentored dozens of student leaders in the University’s Leadership Legacy Experience.

Currently, Rich is a partner in Athorus, PLLC, a Seattle-based virtual intellectual property law firm that represents high-technology clients ranging in size from solo inventors to some of the largest companies in the world.  Prior to enrolling in law school, Rich served for five years as a nuclear-trained submarine warfare officer in the United States Navy, and was stationed aboard a Connecticut-based fast-attack submarine.

Rich and his wife, Julie, live with their sons Gavin (age 10) and Nicholas (age 7) in Glastonbury, Connecticut, where he is active in their community.  Rich is a member of the Board of Directors of the Glastonbury Education Foundation, Inc., and the Glastonbury Youth Football Association, Inc., and has volunteered as a coach in the Glastonbury Little League.
